Delta Home Services repairs air conditioners and heat pumps across the Prescott area: Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, Cottonwood and Sedona. Summers here are shorter than in Phoenix, but they are not the same from town to town, and a heat pump here has to heat the house in winter as well as cool it in summer. Serving Arizona homeowners since 2003, with 90,000+ jobs completed, we put the price in writing before any work starts, and our phones are answered 24/7.

Prescott-Area AC Repair: Mild in Prescott, 100°F Days in Cottonwood

Summer depends on which town you are in. At the Prescott station, NOAA’s 1991–2020 climate normals show a normal July high of 89.6°F, about 44 days a year at 90°F or hotter and only one or two at 100°F. Phoenix Sky Harbor averages about 111 days a year at 100°F or hotter. Drop into the Verde Valley and it changes: the Tuzigoot station, which the National Weather Service uses for Cottonwood, averages about 51 days a year at 100°F or hotter with a normal July high of 101.1°F, and Sedona’s normal July high is 96.9°F. An air conditioner in Cottonwood works a much longer season than one in Prescott.

The storms and the houses matter too. The National Weather Service in Flagstaff puts the monsoon season at June 15 to September 30 and says its rain comes most days as afternoon and evening thunderstorms; normal monsoon rainfall is 7.28 inches in Prescott and 5.21 inches at Tuzigoot. Housing is mixed: in the Census Bureau’s 2020–2024 American Community Survey, mobile homes make up about 17% of housing units across Yavapai County and 16% in Cottonwood, against under 3% in Phoenix. Whatever kind of home you have, we look at how the system is running and its repair history, then explain your options.

Cooling equipment here also has a winter. In NOAA’s normals the Prescott station’s median last freeze of spring falls on April 30 and its first of fall on October 20, so a heat pump that cools the house in July spends about half the year heating it, and a failure in either season is the same repair call. Not every repair needs a permit: Prescott Valley’s town code, for one, exempts replacing a minor part that does not alter the equipment’s approval. For gas furnaces, see our Prescott heating page. Our phones are answered 24/7. For true emergencies we dispatch a technician between 6 AM and 7 PM.

Frequently Asked Questions — AC Repair Prescott

Does Delta repair air conditioners in Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Cottonwood and Sedona?

Do you offer emergency AC repair in Prescott?

Yes. Our phones are answered 24/7. For true emergencies we dispatch a technician between 6 AM and 7 PM. Call (623) 240-9892.

Prescott rarely reaches 100°F. Why did my AC fail?

Heat is only one cause. The National Weather Service gives Prescott’s all-time record high as 105°F, and NOAA’s normal July low at the Prescott station is 61°F, so even in midsummer the nights cool off. Electrical parts, airflow problems and refrigerant leaks stop systems in mild climates too. We find the cause and price the repair first.

My Cottonwood AC runs far more than a Prescott system. Is that normal?

Yes. NOAA’s 1991–2020 normals give the Tuzigoot station near Cottonwood about 2,136 cooling degree days a year and Sedona about 1,984, more than twice the Prescott station’s count. A Verde Valley system runs a longer, hotter season, so it is worth a check before June.

Do you service all AC brands?

Yes. Our technicians repair all major brands of central air conditioners and heat pumps.
