PHOENIX HEATING MAINTENANCE
A fall check for your furnace or heat pump, with every finding explained before you decide anything.
In Phoenix the heat stays off for months, then has to start on the first cold night. Delta’s heating maintenance visit is a check of your gas furnace or heat pump before that night comes. A Delta technician inspects and tests the system, checks the gas connections, lubricates moving parts as needed and replaces the air filter when you provide one. This visit doesn’t include burner cleaning or adjustment, blower compartment cleaning, a carbon monoxide test or a gas pressure check.
Service areas: we serve the whole Phoenix metro, with local pages for Mesa, Scottsdale, Glendale, Chandler and Tempe.
Licensed HVAC contractor: Delta Air Conditioning LLC, Arizona ROC 191372 (R-39R Air Conditioning and Refrigeration).
HEATING MAINTENANCE
Find Problems Before the First Cold Night
A Phoenix furnace or heat pump can go months without running in heating mode. Dust settles, parts age, and nobody notices until the thermostat calls for heat. A maintenance visit in the fall is when a worn part or a loose connection gets found, while there is still time to fix it.

WHY HEATING MAINTENANCE MATTERS IN PHOENIX
What a Desert Winter Asks of Your System
- Months of sitting idle between heating seasons
- Dust that collects in filters over the summer
- Cold mornings after warm afternoons, so the system cycles on and off
- Heat pumps that have already worked through a full summer of cooling
- Gas appliances that need their connections and venting checked
What a Visit Can Catch
During a maintenance visit we look for:
- Worn or failing parts
- Loose or faulty electrical connections
- Airflow problems and clogged filters
- Cracks in the heat exchanger that we can see
- Venting or gas connection problems

BENEFITS OF REGULAR HEATING MAINTENANCE
for Phoenix Furnaces and Heat Pumps
Parts and Connections
Find worn parts early
Our technicians can identify worn-out parts, faulty connections or airflow issues early, while there is still time to fix them.
Safety Checks
Gas connections, venting and heat exchanger
Our heating maintenance visit includes safety checks of the gas connections, venting and visible heat exchanger surfaces, and we show you what we find.
A Heating Cycle Test
Checked before you need it
We run the system through a heating cycle and test the safety controls, so the first cold night isn’t the first time it has run since spring.
A Fresh Filter
When you provide one
We replace the air filter when you provide one. ENERGY STAR’s advice is to check the filter every month, especially in heavy-use months, and to change it at least every 3 months.
Keep a Maintenance Record
Documented visits
Every visit is documented, so you keep a dated maintenance record for your system.
Clear Answers
You decide
We tell you what we found and what it means before you decide anything.
WHEN TO SCHEDULE HEATING MAINTENANCE
for Your Phoenix Heating System
Fall Visit (Recommended)
Schedule your visit in October or November, before the first cold nights. ENERGY STAR’s advice is to check the heating system in the fall, because contractors get busy once winter comes. This timing allows you to:
- Fix what we find before you need the heat
- Start the season with a checked system
- Book before the winter rush
- Put in a fresh filter at the start of the season
Need a Repair or a New System?
If the visit turns up a problem, we explain your repair options and put the price in writing before any work begins. See heating repair for what we fix, or heating installation if it’s time for a new furnace or heat pump.
Heat Pumps Work Year-Round
A heat pump heats in winter and cools in summer, so it never gets an off-season. A fall visit checks it for heating; for the cooling side, see AC maintenance.
SIGNS YOUR HEATING NEEDS
Attention Now
Don’t wait for a maintenance visit if you notice:
- No heat, or air that never gets warm
- A burning smell that doesn’t clear after the first few minutes of the season’s first run
- The system turning on and off more than usual
- New banging, squealing or grinding noises
- Ice on a heat pump’s outdoor unit that doesn’t clear
- A yellow furnace flame instead of blue; Southwest Gas tells its customers to call the company immediately
- A gas smell: leave the house, then call 911 and your gas utility

Frequently Asked Questions — Heating Maintenance Phoenix
How often should I schedule heating maintenance in Phoenix?
Once a year, in the fall. ENERGY STAR advises a yearly pre-season check-up, with the heating system checked in the fall, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission urges a yearly professional inspection of all fuel-burning home heating systems.
What does Delta’s heating maintenance visit include?
A Delta technician inspects and tests your gas furnace or heat pump: heat exchanger, gas connections, venting, safety controls, electrical connections, blower and airflow. We lubricate moving parts as needed and replace the air filter when you provide one. It doesn’t include burner cleaning or adjustment, blower compartment cleaning, a carbon monoxide test or a gas pressure check.
Does the visit include a carbon monoxide test?
No. No Delta visit includes a carbon monoxide test or a gas pressure check. We inspect the heat exchanger, venting and gas connections and tell you what we find. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s advice is to install carbon monoxide alarms on every level of the home and outside sleeping areas.
Do heat pumps need heating maintenance too?
Yes. The U.S. Department of Energy says a professional technician should service a heat pump at least once a year. A heat pump runs in both seasons, so a fall heating visit and a spring AC visit between them cover the whole year.
Is Delta Home Services licensed for heating work in Phoenix?
Yes. Delta Air Conditioning LLC holds an active Arizona ROC license, number 191372, classification R-39R Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
