Piping, Drain & Sewer Services in Scottsdale, AZ
Complete plumbing solutions designed to keep your system flowing properly — from your pipes to your main sewer line.
Scottsdale is two different plumbing jobs depending on where you live. South Scottsdale filled in during the 1950s and 1960s, and many of those ranch homes still drain through original cast iron and older sewer laterals under mature landscaping. North Scottsdale is mostly 1990s and newer, with ABS drain systems and, on larger lots, long sewer runs from a house set well back from the street. The city’s own water data follows the same line: hardness runs about 22 to 25 grains per gallon south of Indian School Road and 16 to 18 north of Chaparral Road, and that mineral load builds scale inside supply piping and aging drain lines. Across 6,300+ plumbing and home service jobs in Scottsdale, we work in both halves of the city regularly.

Drain and Sewer Questions from Scottsdale Homeowners
My South Scottsdale home still has its original drains. How long does cast iron last?
Cast iron drain lines commonly last 50 to 75 years, and many South Scottsdale homes are now at or past that range. The pipe fails from the inside: scale and corrosion build along the bottom, the wall thins, and eventually it cracks or wears a channel through. Slow drains throughout the house, recurring clogs, and sewer odor are the usual early signs. A camera inspection shows whether a spot repair will hold or the line is due for replacement or lining.
Does trenchless sewer repair work on Scottsdale properties with pavers and mature landscaping?
Often, yes, and that is where it earns its cost. Pipe lining and pipe bursting work through one or two access points instead of an open trench along the full length of the line, so driveways, pavers, pool decks, and established trees are left largely undisturbed. Whether a line qualifies depends on its diameter, condition, and how much it has shifted, which a camera inspection determines before we quote it.
Why does hard water matter for my plumbing in Scottsdale?
Scottsdale water is hard across the city and hardest in the south, which the city reports at 22 to 25 grains per gallon south of Indian School Road. Over years, that mineral content builds scale inside supply piping, restricts flow at fixtures, and adds to the buildup that narrows older drain lines. If you are seeing low pressure at several fixtures at once, the cause is usually in the piping rather than the fixtures themselves, and repiping is sometimes the lasting fix.
The sewer line on my North Scottsdale lot is long. Does that change anything?
It can. Longer laterals have more joints and more length where a belly, or low spot, can form as the soil settles, and a belly collects waste until it slows or blocks the line. Long runs also make locating a problem by guesswork expensive. We run a camera with a locator so we can mark the exact position and depth of a defect from the surface before any digging or lining is planned.
Do I need a permit for sewer line replacement in Scottsdale?
Sewer line replacement and new drain piping generally require a permit and inspection through the City of Scottsdale. Drain clearing, hydro-jetting, and camera inspections do not. Plumbing work is done under Delta Plumbing Services LLC (Arizona ROC 303285, R-37). We’ll tell you whether your job needs a permit.
