Water Heater Services Across Glendale
Glendale spans almost a century of housing. Catlin Court near downtown was platted in 1914, the central neighborhoods around it filled in with postwar homes through the 1950s and 1960s, and most of the city, including Arrowhead Ranch and the newer subdivisions to the north and west, was built from the 1970s on. That range shows up on water heater calls: interior closets and older venting are more common in the historic core, and garage installs are the norm in the tract neighborhoods. Glendale’s water is a blend of roughly 46 percent Salt and Verde River water from SRP and 43 percent Colorado River water from the CAP, with the rest from groundwater and other sources, and like the rest of the Valley it leaves scale in any tank. Our shop on Deer Valley Road is a short drive from north Glendale, and we have completed 4,700+ home service jobs here.
Delta provides complete water heater service in Glendale, AZ: repair and replacement of gas and electric tank units, tankless and heat pump water heaters, flushing and descaling, anode rod and thermostat replacement, expansion tanks, and drain pans for closet and attic installs. Our work carries 1-year labor unless your proposal states otherwise, and financing is available.

Consider a Replacement If:

Installation Warranties
+4 Years
Tank warranty with our premium install
Water heaters carry the manufacturer’s warranty: 6 or 8 years on the tank and parts, depending on the Ruud model. Our premium install includes Ruud’s ProtectionPlus extended warranty, bought at installation and backed by the manufacturer. It adds 4 years to the tank (10 or 12 years), and parts coverage stays the same.
1-Year
Labor warranty on all our work
We stand behind our work with a full year of labor coverage, unless your proposal states otherwise. If something we installed isn’t working as it should, call us. We’ll come back, show you what we find, and tell you what’s covered before any work.

Water Heater Questions from Glendale Homeowners
Do I need a permit to replace a water heater in Glendale?
Not when a licensed contractor does the work. The City of Glendale’s building permit guidance states that a residential water heater replacement installed by a licensed contractor does not need a permit. If you plan to do the work yourself, or you are moving the water heater or changing its fuel type, check with Glendale Building Safety first. Either way, the new unit still has to be installed to code, including venting, the temperature and pressure relief line, and a drain pan where it is required.
What are the signs my Glendale water heater is failing?
The common warning signs are rusty or discolored hot water, popping or rumbling from the tank, moisture or a slow drip around the base, hot water that runs out sooner than it used to, and a pilot or burner that will not stay lit. Some of these, such as a failed thermostat, element, or thermocouple, are routine repairs. Rust in the water or moisture from the tank itself usually means the tank is corroding from the inside, and at that point replacement is the safer choice before it leaks.
My older Glendale home has the water heater in an interior closet. Can I replace it with the same size?
Often, but not always in the same footprint. Federal efficiency standards introduced in 2015 made many tank water heaters larger in height or diameter, so a new 40 or 50 gallon unit may not fit a closet built for the old one. Gas units in closets also need adequate combustion air and a sound vent, and any interior install should have a drain pan and a properly routed relief line. When a standard tank will not fit, a different tank shape, a tankless unit, or relocation can solve it. We measure and check the venting before recommending one.
Is there a rebate for a heat pump water heater in Glendale?
That depends on your utility. Your electric bill shows which utility serves your home. SRP currently offers its customers a $500 rebate on a qualifying ENERGY STAR heat pump water heater that replaces an existing unit and is installed by an Arizona-licensed plumbing contractor, with an online application after installation. APS does not currently list a heat pump water heater rebate. Check which utility is on your bill and confirm current terms before you schedule. Heat pump units need room and airflow, so a garage is usually the best location.
How often should I flush a water heater in Glendale?
Once a year is a good baseline for a tank water heater in the Valley, and more often if you do not have a softener or you notice popping noises. Glendale’s 2024 water quality report does not list a hardness figure, and because the city blends river, canal, and well water, hardness can vary by area. The city’s water quality lab can tell you what to expect at your address, and a simple test at the tap will too. Tankless units need periodic descaling rather than a flush.
